Here in the Nation’s capital of Canada, May started off as rainy, cold and miserable but blossomed into a full, luscious and warm spring! I was so happy to finally feel the warmth and see the bright colours of spring (I was starting to think I lived in a cold barren land that would never see the light of day). May has been a month of growth, change, refocusing, and rebranding as a blogger. While keeping my blog niche the same, I have shifted my Instagram’s focus to local culture and events with raving success! Yay for change! Peep below what brought me joy and inspiration in my monthly favourites May 2019 edition!

5 Blogs You NEED to Check Out
This month I decided to focus on blogs instead of individual posts because I found that often times as I was selecting a post, I had a hard time choosing from each blogger’s collection of fabulous posts. Instead of singling out incredible posts, I’m sharing incredible blogs you shouldn’t wait to check out!
1. A Day With Shea
A Day With Shea (Shea) is the cutest little human! I’ve interacted with her many a times on Twitter and love her vibe and style! Her theme is also to die for! Excellent content you need to check out now!
2. Madi Dearson
Madi Dearson also has a theme to die for, and a healthy collection of topics from self-care to family life! Always worth the read, I recommend giving her a peek!
3. A Woman’s Confidence
A Woman’s Confidence (Sarah) is a gem! From all things skin care to lifestyle, her blog takes the cake. I make sure to check out her blog first If I’m on the fence about beauty products!
4. Amanda Burnett
Amanda Burnett is another great stop for all things beauty! From tutorials to reviews, she’s got you covered! She also features blog tips, motivational content and tons more!
5. Somer Lovin’
Somer Lovin’ is a dreamy blog about Somer’s travel and lifestyle adventures! An authentic read for traveling, growing up and adulting and all things lifestyle!
5 Products I Couldn’t Have Gone Through May Without
May has been a weird month with all the temperature highs and lows, rain and blooms (as well as allergies!). Check out below what I used to survive this weird, exciting month!
1. Rain Boots!
We had SO much rain this season it was incredible (and if you’re up to date with Ottawa news, massive flooding in the surrounding areas!). I purchased my Hunter Rain Boots a couple years ago and they have lasted me all this time. I found them especially handy with the constant rain this spring! I linked the ones I wear here (black is my fav because it goes with any outfit!), but they’re also having their summer sale on right now with select colours on sale!
2. Tarte’s Tarteguard SPF 30 Sunscreen
This sunscreen lotion has saved me since the sun has returned and is hotter than ever! Lightweight, doesn’t affect my makeup application and is vegan as well! What I like most about this sunscreen is it’s a physical sunscreen, meaning it physically blocks the suns rays! An absolute must for any upcoming summer outdoor adventures!
3. Old Navy Jump Suits
I’m not going to lie, I’m the first person to be like “I don’t want to tackle Old Navy today” (big store, lots and LOTS of clothes = overwhelm!) BUT I’m so glad my friend Diana wanted to go in because I found not one, but TWO jumpsuits that I freaking LOVE. Comfy, affordable, and actually fit my body (I have wide hips and a narrow waist so jump suits and rompers are a legitimate nightmare to shop for!). Check out below my latest finds (plus I linked similar ones so you can try them as well!)
I may have mentioned them before but I cannot get over how much they help me achieve my blogging tasks! As a blooming social media manager, I’m always looking for ways to make your social media tasks run more smoothly! I always recommend scheduling where you can to save time, and Hootsuite allows me to do just that! I recommend downloading the app on your phone because it gives you the free option right away (the website is a little confusing and they make it seem as though you have to pay to use the site, but the app is totally free and super easy to navigate!).
5. You Are a Badass at Making Money
If you haven’t read a book by Jen Sincero yet, you are seriously missing out. I powered through her ‘You are a Badass’ (erm, twice to be exact) and I was OBSESSED. Now this queen has come out with ‘You Are a Badass at Making Money’ which shifts your mindset into one that is open to making money, shatters your limiting beliefs about your personal experiences with money, and reprograms your thoughts to show you that you are capable of truly making money.
Perfect for the new blogger who is lost and thinks they’ll never monetize, the person stuck in a job they hate (but aren’t sure how to leave) and the person who’s looking to simply make more money (hey, there is zero shame in wanting to make money!) I highly recommend this book!

5 Things That Inspired the HECK out of Me This Month
1. Jen Sincero
If you skipped over my products section then you would have missed me ranting and raving about Jen Sincero’s books. But if you didn’t, then you’ll notice I’m talking about it AGAIN because her books are just that GREAT. Jen Sincero has a way of writing that captures her audience, makes you feel like she’s completely relatable, and blows you away with her humour (all while kicking your butt into gear to be the best you can be!) One of my dreams in this life time would just be able to sit down and have a coffee with her to pick her brain, but for now I’ll stick to her amazing books and dream the heck on!
2. My Local Blogging Community
Not only am I surrounded by a gaggle of amazing bloggers on social media, but I’m fortunate enough to be surrounded by an amazing bunch of bloggers in my own CITY. Watching these bloggers reach new milestones, participate in campaigns that matter and host (and sell out!) their first events has blown my mind! Shout out to this amazing community for being so supportive, welcoming me in, and making the blogging community that much brighter.
Hanging around with them has opened my mindset to all of the possibilities out there, and has encouraged me to create my own community! You can now find @winebabesofottawa on Instagram, a local community I created to showcase wining and dining in the city, bring people together and host events!
Ottawa has bloomed into one giant flower bomb (and a simultaneous allergy bomb may I add), but it has me thinking. Even though the blooms were late and we weren’t sure they were going to happen, they did. And boy did they rock it. Did some flowers bloom before others? Yes. Did some bloom later? Yes. Did they all look freaking amazing when they did bloom? YES. These beautiful blooms have me thinking metaphorically in the sense of blogging. Just because a blog hasn’t bloomed yet, doesn’t mean it won’t. And just because a blog blooms later than someone else’s doesn’t make it any less beautiful. Keep on doing your thing beautiful blooming bloggers!
4. Embracing Change
I’ll admit, May was quite the month of change. To changing friendships, opportunities and work conditions, I have been the queen of change. Did I feel uncomfortable? Yes. Did I want to cry sometimes? Yes. Did it all work out better than expected? Absolutely.
Change is something we must go through in order to grow as people. It’s completely uncomfortable, nerve-wracking and completely uprooting to our cozy, comfortable lives, but it’s necessary. Without change, we cannot come out on the other side better than we were before! This month I learned to embrace the change, acknowledge the discomfort (but power through) and learn to let the universe take the reigns.
5. Your Only Limit is Yourself
This lesson was a hard one for me to learn, but it was necessary. Often, we’re the ones holding ourselves back with our limiting beliefs, our thought processes and our subconscious habits. In order to break those patterns, we need to get real with what we want (think specific), pay attention to what we say to ourselves (our thoughts) and actively re-program ourselves to better our mindsets.
May has been one for the books. I’ve had the opportunity to learn so much about myself, others, and set myself on a path of utter success. I hope you found this round-up inspiring, and hopefully you share with me your favourite things of May down below!
