5 Ways to Live a Cozier Life
Below, I’m going to share with you 5 ways to live a cozier life. Be prepared to fall into a feeling of cozy overload!
1. Start With Your Mind
Your mindset is everything (as you’ve probably heard me say a million times before). Several aspects of cultivating a positive mindset sound very similar to creating a cozy space inside your head – warm, positive uplifting thoughts!
Learn to treat your body and mind with kindness and warmth, and watch the transformation occur from within. Creating a cozy place in your mind allows for more positivity to grow and live there. Start cultivating a more positive mindset today by practicing gratitude (and making it a habit), saying positive affirmations (here are 25 of them!), and learning how to love yourself.
2. Create a Cozy Environment
Now that we’ve started on your internal environment, we can work on your external environment! Creating a cozy environment isn’t limited to your home – make sure the people you surround yourself with, your work environment and the goals you set for yourself possess appealing qualities.
When we think of cozy, we think of being safe, comfortable and relaxed. these are some of the qualities we should be looking for in the people we surround ourselves with, our work environments and the situations we put ourselves in. Create an environment that is reassuring, safe to grow and loving beyond the confines of your home.
3. Start Practicing Hygge
Defined as “a quality of coziness that makes a person feel content and comfortable. It’s also often used as an adjective meaning “cozy or comfortable.” by the Merriam Webster dictionary, Hygge (pronounced hew-guh) is a Danish word that literally means cozy. So, naturally, it made its way onto this list.
Living Hygge can be described as taking pleasures in the simple things in life. This could mean spending more time with friends and family, making a comfortable environment, or switching up the food we eat. Indulging and enjoying life’s simplest pleasures doesn’t sound too bad eh?
Learning how to practice Hygge is something we can all get on board with. While the idea behind it is coziness, there are a few deeper elements involved when it comes to practicing Hygge. You can check them out in this article here.
4. Listen to Your Body
When we ignore our bodies, we often ignore signs to slow down and rest because we’re simply too busy. We push ourselves past our limits and that often leads us to skip out on important things such as rest, relaxation and comfort food.
When your body is tired, rest. Sleep in where you can or take an extra nap. When you feel too tired to exercise or work on a project, honour that tiredness. Relax instead, maybe curling up with a good book or watching something on TV. Eat when you’re hungry. Eat to nourish your body. Sometimes, you will end up eating something that doesn’t quite have the best nutritional information, but satisfies you anyways. Listen to what your body is asking of you and honour it.

5. Make Time For What You Love
Depriving ourselves of what we love ends up creating an imbalance in our lives. Not doing what love creates a void. Like going on a strict diet or depriving ourselves of a basic necessity, we will end up over-indulging, splurging or binging on the very thing we’ve deprived ourselves from.
Making time for the things you love in your life is not selfish, it’s necessary to your well being. Be sure to create time for things that spark joy, hobbies you have, or simply things you’ve been putting off but would like to resume.
Let’s Get Cozy!
Learning to live a cozier life creates more room for finding joy, feeling loved and honoured, and cultivating internal and external environments that are positive spaces. Transitioning into a cozier life will not only make you feel good, I guarantee it will change your life!
