They say that April showers bring May flowers, and you can imagine I’m patiently waiting by the window sill to see this happen (just kidding, we all could benefit from learning to get out and enjoy the rain!) As this month is rapidly coming to a close (seriously, where is the time going?!) I’m taking time tor reflect on things that truly brought me joy, as well as what inspired me this month with my monthly favourites round-up: April edition!
I’ll admit, I had a little bit of a rough go this month. I lost my sparkle, I lost my passion, and quite honestly I lost a little bit of myself. I didn’t really take time for myself between work and blogging, and before I knew it I was veering on the very edge of burning out. I halted all things blogging, took a weekend off and spent time looking after me. So, with that being said, you may notice a restorative type theme for this month’s round-up, simply because I had to shift my entire perspective in order to save myself!
Without further suspense, check out below as I share my favourite things that helped me reset, recharge and get back to making me, me again!

Mrs.Planahead depicts a lovely vision of knowing your self worth in this quick and enticing read! I absolutely loved the part where she shares some positive affirmations we can use ourselves! Such a great read, give this lovely blogger some love and check it out here!
3. What Every Girl Deserves to Hear
Absolutely loved this post from the amazing Sydney Rose of Her Unusual Journey! In today’s society we get told 100 times a day what we aren’t, but Sydney took the time to tell us what we are. Love the positive, uplifting and loving place this post comes from. Check it out here.
4. How Not to Lose Yourself in a Relationship
This post from Up and Forward on Purpose is a great little reminder to us all. It can be so exciting and whimsical when we enter a relationship, but it’s absolutely imperative to stay true to ourselves. You can check out this amazing little read here!
5. 7-Day Iceland Itinerary
It was really hard to pick just one of The Uncorked Librarian‘s posts, but I definitely went with this one as my fav. I spent so much time perusing her site, I truly fell in love! If you dream of travelling to Iceland such as I do, you should definitely check this out! Also give her site some love for all things travel, book and wine related!
Things I Adored
I’m no secret keeper, if I like something I tell the world. And of course, I spare you my no-holds-barred ultimate list of things I love each month (hence the round-up). Keep reading to see what made it onto my list this month!
1. Angels on Bare Skin
I treated myself to some new skin-care products from Lush this month and this one has to be my favourite! Angels on Bare Skin is a mix of kaolin (clay mineral!), lavender and almonds. Seriously feels like heaven on your skin! I don’t suffer from sensitive skin, but I’m super careful of what products I do put on my skin! An absolutely perfect product for sensitive skinned people and other people alike!
I have always loved Groupon but I especially loved it this month! In the past I have been able to find cheap concert tickets (30$!!), spa packages, products and so much more on Groupon! This month my boyfriend and I went on a brewery tour to Perth Brewery via Groupon and got a tour of the brewery, as well as a flight of beer to sample! The result was that there wasn’t a single beer we didn’t enjoy! I absolutely encourage you to find fun, local activities to do via Groupon (and save yourself a ton of money in the process!
3. Nordstrom Rack
I saved a TON of money this month when I took a journey into Nordstrom Rack! They carry all Nordstrom has to offer at a discounted price! Peep below the adorable Marc Jacobs purse I picked up this month! Absolutely loving how it goes with every outfit and style, is lightweight and super stylish! I highly recommending checking out Nordstrom Rack before making any brand-name purchase!
4. Le Nordik Spa
Ugh seriously such a treat to go with my girlfriends this month! We went for a spa day as a friend’s birthday treat and it was SO needed. I ended up getting a massage and jumping from pool to pool. I also enjoyed the experiences of both a wet and dry sauna. If you have a chance and are in the area of Chelsea, Quebec, Le Nordik Spa is the perfect getaway for you and your friends, partner or family!
5. Levi’s 711 Skinny Jeans
Until recently, I honestly hadn’t been wearing jeans all that much. I was a super huge fan of leggings for a while, but realized I didn’t have a nice pair of jeans I could just throw on. After watching my boyfriend buy jeans from Levi’s, I had to go back and try some on myself! I got the 711 style skinny jeans in city blues-dark wash! They’re super comfy, go with virtually everything I own, and have enough give to them that I can sit down and lounge comfortably! You can check them out here! Peep below me wearing them on Instagram (PS. They’re on sale right now!)!
5 Sources of Inspiration
This month, as I mentioned above, it took me a little bit of time to get back on track. During that time, I sought several sources of external inspiration to get me back on track to success. Take a look below at what inspired me:
1. The Power of Practicing Gratitude
While I always try my best to incorporate daily gratitude, when life falls off the rails so do the little things that are really the big things. I had been neglecting daily gratitude, and I felt it. I started diligently re-incorporating daily gratitude (for me, this looks like choosing three things I’m grateful for before getting out of bed) and I noticed a world of difference as a result. I’m forever grateful I was able to get back on the rails and pursue something that makes me realize how great life really is.
2. Nurses Standing Together
I was absolutely disheartened by the poor comments Senator Maureen Walsh made in regards to Nurse’s spending most of the day playing cards. However, I was wildly impressed by how nurses banded together across the nation, as well as internationally to call out the ignorance of this comment. Hundreds of thousands of nurses advocated for the nursing profession, and it was incredible to watch. I’m very proud to be apart of this profession, and can only aspire to further my presence within it!
3. The Slight Edge
Ever so slowly making my way through this personal development book, but it’s worth every page! The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson has enlightened my perspective and is changing how I think day by day. I can’t say where I’d be without starting this read, but I’m loving every page I read.
4. Watching Other Bloggers Flourish
It’s amazing to see the relationships you’ve developed, created and nurtured blossomed. It’s also amazing to be along for the ride when someone achieves something great! Watching my blogging friends on social media achieve new heights is always SO exciting! I’m continually excited to see them grow, bloom and flourish!
5. Realizing the Power to Create Your Reality Lies Within
All too often we think it’s external factors that keep us from achieving our greatest hopes and desires. Really, the power to change our reality lies within. We are responsible for our reactions to circumstances, the way we handle emotions and the way we tackle challenges. Realizing this is an empowering feeling that can be used to change our perspective and how we handle challenges.
