The Ultimate Gift Guide for Her
Alright! let’s dive into my top list of ideas and go-tos for coming up with the perfect gift for her!
The best thing you can do is ask in advance, if you have the time and the relationship to do so! Asking can take a lot of guesswork out, and save you from the ultimate headache! If you don’t want to ask them specifically, ask their friends and family closest to them if you want to keep the element of surprise!
2. Make it a Spa Day
You cannot go wrong with spoiling your mom, bestie, aunt etc. with a trip to the spa! If it’s close to a holiday, sometimes spas will also offer packages and deals for purchasing either a gift-card or a treatment!
My go to-tip: check Groupon for local listings! Groupon often has spa treatments and packages at a discount depending on your local spas! I recommend checking it out while doing your research!
Often giving a gift to someone is giving them something they may not think to buy for themselves (they would think of it as a treat/spoiling themselves)! I’ve found time and time again that moms especially love jewellery, or it can be the perfect little gift for your best friend (also a thoughtful gift for bridal parties!)
My top tip: great looking jewellery doesn’t have to be super duper expensive, and often moderately priced jewellery still looks and feels like a great gift! My go to recommendations for affordable jewellery are Pandora and Alex and Ani! You can also check out Sincerely Silver and use code SINCERELY15 for 15% off (peep below the gorgeous necklace I was gifted!)
Do you know where they like to shop, but maybe aren’t comfortable choosing something for them? A gift-card is a great way to allow them the freedom to pick something out for themselves! I personally love giving and getting gift-cards but some people don’t, so just make sure you are getting a gift-card for someone who appreciates that kind of gift! Some popular ideas are for clothing stores they love, any hobby stores they love, or simply a coffee or restaurant card!
5. Plan an Adventure!
Plan a date with your bestie! Take your mom out for lunch! Take your significant other out on a cute date. Time is the most precious gift you can give someone. Spend the day out and about, trying out new places and making memories! Check out my list of my top, budget friendly date ideas here! You can also check out Groupon for local ideas (brewery tours, restaurant deals, local events etc.)
Subscription boxes are HUGE right now, and they’re kind of like the ultimate gift that’s been already put together! There are beauty subscription boxes, snack boxes, boxes for dogs and more! And to make it even easier, a lot of websites will allow you to purchase a single box as a gift (and that way the person can try it out and see if they’d like to purchase a subscription in the future). Some really trendy boxes right now are:
Glossy Box – a bit pricier, includes a full sized product, over 60$ value in every box (plus the boxes make great makeup storage boxes after!)
Birchbox – More affordable, great products and they have an awesome rewards program for products you end up re-purchasing!
FabFitFun – an assortment of beauty, lifestyle and fun products!
Cellars Wine Club – yes, it’s finally happened – a subscription box that brings wine to your doorstep!
You can never go wrong with brunch (especially if it’s for Mother’s Day!) spoil that lovely lady in your life by taking her out for brunch!
A great idea for a home-made gift! Create a series of coupons (ex. redeem for one house clean, redeem for one meal made, redeem for one night out etc.) for thoughtful gifts that you can allow her to redeem more than once! Pinterest has a bunch of ideas for creating coupon books for your significant other, mom, or other special lady in your life!
9. Gift Sets
Sephora year round has a gifts section, and especially around holidays you can expect them to release extra special gifts! If you’re looking for all things fragrance, skin-care or makeup, you should check out the gift-set section of Sephora here!
10. Weekend Getaway
Whisk that special woman in your life away for a weekend! Check out local Airbnb listings and go somewhere close (or faraway!) from home! Discover a local winery, a small town nearby, or visit a big city for the weekend! An Airbnb is a way cozier feeling than a hotel, and you’ll often have access to a kitchen for making your own meals!

11. Create Your Own Giftbox
Not seeing anything you like on a site that already creates subscription boxes? No worries, you can make your own! Gather a few things your friend or loved one may like and toss them into a box! Still lost? Here are some ideas for things you can throw into a box to make a great gift:
Something Sweet: Purdy’s Chocolate
Odds and Sods: gift-cards, small trinkets, tickets to something local (movie, event, etc.)
12. For the Athlete
Buying for someone who’s into exercise and all things athletic? Check out Lululemon, Under Armour and Nike for all of your athletic needs! Perhaps they have their eye on a new yoga mat or pair of running shoes! Get them something they’ll actually love, or simply grab a gift-card and let them do the shopping!
13. A Special Dinner
Dinner can be a great way to celebrate her whether it’s just the two of you, or a small or large group of people! You can either make her favourite meal, or take her out to her favourite restaurant. You can even surprise her by taking her somewhere new!
14. Home Decor
Home decor can be a great gift option for housewarming parties, the new homeowner as well as wedding showers (and weddings themselves)! Snag super cute home decor gift ideas from local department stores (my go to is Winners!) as well as Pier 1 Imports! Pro Tip: check to see if they have a registry/what items they have expressed a need/desire for!
Has she expressed a desire to learn something new? Check local listings for classes offered. Your town or city is a plethora for local classes such as cooking, painting, scrapbooking, etc. Surprise her by purchasing a class she has expressed interest in taking!
16. Luxury Items
Like I’ve said before, a gift can be both something the person desires and actually needs, as well as something the person wouldn’t think to buy for themselves because it is a treat. This is where you come in and have the power to spoil that person with something nice! Some things I would consider a luxurious treat (that I may not necessarily buy for myself, but would love as a gift) include UGG slippers, candles (Woodlot has an excellent selection of handmade beauty products! You can use code CYNSPO for 15% off), or anything Kate Spade!
Pay attention to what the person is interested in/drops hints about. This can be an indicator of things they may want but can’t bring themselves to purchase (mother’s are especially guilty of this!).
A gift doesn’t always have to be something over the top, it can be something that holds a lot of meaning for that person. Doing something sentimental can be as simple as gathering a bunch of people for a get-together, framing a picture of the two of you, or writing a heartfelt note. Gifts that come from the heart can hold higher value than any material item.
18. Something Unconventional
Has she been wanting something that’s not really an exciting gift, but is something awesome to her? Get her something that’s been on her list for ages. My friend was over the moon when her boyfriend bought her a food processor she had been wanting for ages. See if there’s anything pending she really needs and make the leap to grab it!
Classic, and is never a bad idea. If you’re struggling for ideas, flowers or even a potted plant can be an excellent gift. They can also be an addition to any gift as well! Pro-tip: potted plants can be an excellent thank you gift to neighbours, friends and even your child’s teacher!
20. Donation in Her Honour
Shopping for someone who is truly selfless and hates the idea of getting a gift? Make a donation in her honour to her favourite charity! Some people would rather give than receive, even if it is their birthday. Make them feel less uncomfortable by giving them a gift that truly keeps on giving!

Last Minute Tips
At the end of the day, the ultimate gift guide for her is here to inspire you, not hinder you. Here are some last minute things to keep in mind when shopping for her!
Keep in Mind the Person You’re Buying For
If you know they truly won’t like something, don’t bother getting it for them as a gift. Play it safe and get them something they’d actually enjoy. Remember, giving someone your time is never a bad idea! If you really can’t think of a material item, a gift-card or an activity together may be the best thing!
Don’t Blow the Budget
If getting them the perfect gift is going to cause you serious financial harm, don’t bother getting them that gift. Again, time and sentimental gifts are just as valuable. The person you’re getting the gift for will appreciate any efforts you may make!
Give From the Heart
At the end of the day, as long as you come from a good place with good intentions, you can’t go wrong. Again, if you’re worried ask the person’s friends and family for tips and tricks, and grab a gift receipt if you’re uneasy still!
