Hamuq is a Canadian owned company operating out of Toronto, Ontario that started in 2016. They are the creators of the first rollable pocket coil mattress (a lot of other popular rollable mattresses don’t actually have coils in them!).

Design

The Hamuq Hybrid is a pillow-top mattress, with a medium-firm pocket coil base underneath.

The pillow-top is made with materials to allow for softness, temperature regulation and comfort. It’s also hypoallergenic.

The pocket-coil base is made with Canadian steel pocket coils, which are designed to allow for even air-flow throughout the mattress. It’s also designed with edge support (to prevent your mattress from sagging).

Size

The mattress itself is 13″ thick. It comes in twin, twin XL, full, Queen, King and California King.

My Experience From Unboxing to Sleep

Delivery & Unboxing

My mattress arrived within days of ordering – something I was super excited about as I was timing this delivery with my move in date (and my bed frame had already arrived). My Hamuq mattress took 4 days to arrive (I ordered on a Wednesday and it showed up that Saturday). The mattress was vacuum sealed and arrived in a box, which made transporting it to my new home super easy!

The day we unboxed it was my move in day, after my bed frame had been set up! I had my sister videotape the unboxing and it took me and my friend Desiree just under 5 minutes to completely unbox, unwrap and set up my mattress atop of my box spring!

First Night’s Sleep

I was a little nervous to try it out as it takes a few hours for the mattress to expand, and I had been so busy with other moving day tasks I left it till the evening, however I was not disappointed. It took mere minutes to fall asleep, and I woke up confused the next morning (one of those deep, dreamless sleeps).

Truthfully, it was one of the best sleeps I’d had in a while. I logged 7+ consecutive hours of solid sleep, and didn’t wake up to any of the usual pain I was accustomed to with my old mattress.

I had fallen asleep so fast that night that I hadn’t had the chance to set my alarm, and I’m convinced that if I had curtains and didn’t wake up to the glaring summer sun, I would have continued to sleep for hours longer.

The sleeps I’m having are unmatched.

I was a little nervous about having a pillow-top mattress, however the Hamuq mattress is actually quite firm underneath the pillow-top. I prefer a firmer mattress and this feature has proven itself time and time again. No sinking into a pit in the bed, no issues with memory foam – just a super comfy pillow-topped firm mattress!

This mattress is excellent at temperature regulation. I don’t feel like the heat gets trapped in it like my previous mattress did. After spending an entire summer sleeping on this mattress (in a heat wave I may add), I can honestly say I’m impressed with how cool I would wake up feeling in the mornings.

I’ve noticed since getting this mattress, my sleep has significantly improved.

I no longer toss and turn or wake up several times throughout my sleep. With my Hamuq mattress I fall asleep faster, and stay asleep longer (something that has notably improved my sleep over the past couple of months).

Why I Recommend This Mattress

Sleep is something I highly value. As a nurse and a shift worker, your sleep is often compromised (especially when working the night shift), or it’s something you place a high value upon to allow you to function throughout the long shifts.

The Hamuq Hybrid mattress absolutely changed my sleep for the better. The soft pillow-top and firm quality keeps me from sinking into a pit (if you know, you know), or getting stuck in any position too long.

This is crucial as I depend on my body to do the physical aspect of my job, and if I sleep the wrong way for too long (did I just age myself a bit there?), the impact on my day is very noticable.

My Hamuq mattress takes all the guesswork out of falling asleep. I’m not worried about getting into a comfy position, or falling asleep. I’m not worried about waking up too warm in the middle of the night or whether I’m going to wake up and need to peel myself out of the pit.

Hamuq has given me the relief of stress around trying to get a good night sleep, and has become a soft place to land after a long day. I’ve slept on quite a few mattresses throughout my life, and it’s safe to say this is the best one yet.
